Monsoon tree cleanup in Phoenix is expensive, disruptive, and mostly preventable. We respond to dozens of emergency removals and cleanups every July and August — and the majority could have been avoided with monsoon-preparation tree trimming in Phoenix a few months earlier.
What we look for in a pre-monsoon pruning
Dead and weakly attached branches, co-dominant stems with included bark, heavy end-weight on long laterals, and any limb hanging over a roof or vehicle. Selective thinning lets wind move through the canopy instead of pushing the whole tree over.
Trees that need it most
Mesquite, ficus, eucalyptus, and African sumac top our list. They grow fast, build heavy canopies, and have shallow root systems for our climate. A balanced canopy survives a microburst — an unbalanced one usually doesn't.
When to schedule
April and May are ideal. We're booked solid in June. By July, we're triaging emergency calls and can rarely fit in preventive work.
